Essay "Cuba Past"

Ross MacPhee is chairman and curator of the Department of
Mammalogy, American Museum of Natural History, New York. His work in Cuba has
unearthed valuable information about animals now extinct and contributes toward the preservation of the unique endemic
species that survive today. His writing, along with illustrations of animals that are now past, provides a framework for
Natural Cuba/Cuba natural and
the importance of the island's fragile, tropical ecosystem.
