ALEXIS LAGO
Alexis Lago (b. Havana, Cuba, 1962) studied painting at the San Alejandro Academy of Art. Illustrator for Mi isla y yo / My Island and I, he is an artist whose colorful renderings exemplify the Greater and Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean, where he paints with his artist wife María Sánchez. Originally from Cuba, they live in the United States.
Some of Alexis' recent works can be viewed at La Boheme Fine Art Gallery, Coral Gables, Florida, and at Cuatrogatos. His work has been exhibited in personal and collective shows in Latin America, the United States and Europe. He is collected for both public and private collections in Germany, USA, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and Cuba.
His other book illustration work with author Alfonso Silva Lee includes Mi mar y yo: El mundo azul de Puerto Rico.
